Every once in a while, a curious turn-of-phrase gets me thinking about writing something, something whose form is somewhere between a story and an essay. Today, that made me invent a historian who tends to mansplain, and a wife who takes liberties with history for the sake of her fiction. It gave me the chance to do both.
